Hamilton, NJ (March 8, 2022) – A woman was killed in a fatal 10-vehicle collision that took place at an intersection in Hamilton on Tuesday, March 8.
According to Hamilton Police, the accident happened around 1:50 p.m. at the intersection of Horizon Center Boulevard and US-130. Police confirmed that a 62-year-old man was traveling south when he went through a traffic light without stopping at the intersection. From there, his vehicle collided with nine other vehicles that were waiting at the intersection before it came to a stop.
Police confirmed that one of the vehicles that was struck in the collision was a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 76-year-old female from Columbus. She sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Capital Health Regional Hospital. She was tragically pronounced dead while there. Multiple other victims were injured, though their conditions are not known at this time.
The roadway was blocked in southbound lanes until approximately 4:40 p.m. as police worked to clear the scene.
New Jersey State Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
