Middletown, PA (April 4, 2022) – Injuries were reported in a serious rear-end collision that took place in Middletown on Friday afternoon, April 1.
According to Middletown Police, the accident happened in the westbound lanes of I-295 around the area of the East Lincoln Highway overpass at 2:30 p.m. A 48-year-old man from Yardley was driving a Volvo and a 24-year-old woman was inside a Chrysler. Traffic came to a sudden stop and the Volvo slammed into the rear of the Chrysler, causing the Volvo to go off the side of the road. The Volvo slammed into a tree on the side of the road after driving up an embankment, which led to severe damages.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene. The man inside the Volvo was seriously injured in the collision. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. His condition is not known at this time.
Due to the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
