Philadelphia, PA (September 10, 2022) – Authorities say a woman died following an accident that occurred Saturday morning, September 10th, in the Germantown area.
A Germantown ambulance worker was killed early Saturday morning in a collision between two ambulances.
According to the police, two ambulances were sent to a residence on West Chelten Avenue, close to Wayne Avenue, to take a patient just after 10:00 a.m.
The ambulances were lined up with the first one in front. Right after exiting the vehicle, the ambulance driver realized the ambulance was in reverse, but when he hopped back in to stop the car from rolling backward, he hit the accelerator instead. A 32-year-old woman was standing in the path of both cars when she was crushed. She was taken to the hospital with critical injuries but ultimately passed away a short time later.
The inquiry is still ongoing, and new information has not been released.
Our hearts go out to the victim’s loved ones and family members at this time.
Deadly Automobile Crashes in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
According to statistics and research conducted in Pennsylvania in 2014, rear-end collisions were the second most common kind of automobile accident that year. Every motorist in Pennsylvania should exercise extra care on the roads since over 20,000 multi-vehicle accidents occur every year statewide.
Most rear-end incidents are caused by careless drivers. Most rear-end collisions in the state of Pennsylvania are caused by drivers who disobey traffic signals by passing through red lights or stop signs. Sometimes it’s crystal clear who’s at fault in a rear-end collision, while other times, it’s a total mystery.
The rear of a car seldom gets any attention when there’s been an accident. Unfortunately, these mishaps have the potential to be as lethal as head-on collisions. Minor rear-end crashes might nevertheless result in serious injury or property loss.
The degree of injuries sustained in a rear-end accident is largely determined by the speed of the other vehicle at the moment of contact. Most rear-end crashes occur when one driver suddenly stops, causing the car behind them to slam into them. Your automobile is propelled forward by the inertia of the vehicle in front of you. When traveling at high speeds, crashing into a seat or headrest may have devastating effects, some of which may not become apparent for many hours or days.
If you were critically hurt in a rear-end collision that was not your fault, the person who caused the accident should be accountable for covering your medical costs and lost wages.
If a person is injured in a car accident and afterward. becomes unable to work, the insurance company may try to find any excuse to avoid paying for permanent care or compensation for lost income and lost earning potential.
