Philadelphia, PA (April 14, 2022) – Around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, April 14, one person was killed in a fatal car crash at a Philadelphia intersection.
According to Philadelphia Police, the accident took place at the intersection of Bustleton Avenue and Byberry Road. A red passenger vehicle was allegedly traveling north in the area when it struck a pickup truck that was headed southbound due to unknown reasons. The red vehicle then collided with a pole and separated into two. One of the pieces of the vehicle landed at a gas pump in a nearby gas station parking lot.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the red vehicle, identified only as a 44-year-old man, was rushed to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital but was tragically pronounced deceased while there. The 67-year-old male driver of the pickup truck was not hurt.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for a period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing. Police will update with more information as it becomes available.
