Philadelphia, PA (February 15, 2022) – Injuries were reported in a four-vehicle collision that took place on a highway in Philadelphia on Tuesday morning, February 15.
Philadelphia officials confirmed that the accident happened in the westbound lanes of the Schuylkill Expressway around 6:32 a.m. near the Vine Expressway. A vehicle was traveling in the area when it collided with a queen-sized mattress that was left in the middle of the highway. Four vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction collision as a result. The vehicles were extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims sustained injuries as a result of the collision. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
Due to the severity of the collision, a left lane of traffic was fully blocked in the area for a period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
