Philadelphia, PA (October 30, 2022) – A multi-vehicle incident occurred in the greater Philadelphia region on Sunday, October 30, just after 9:00 p.m., resulting in probable injuries to two drivers and the passengers in those two vehicles.
According to the Philadelphia Police’s investigations, the event occurred in the eastbound lanes of I-76 between Girard Avenue and Spring Garden Street. For unknown reasons, two drivers collided in the left lanes of traffic. Police say that, as the two motorists were apparently merging, it is suspected that one of them sideswiped the other, causing a collision involving additional vehicles and significant damage to all cars involved.
First responders were sent to the scene to aid any and all people who had been harmed. At least one person was injured as a consequence of the incident; however, no information on the type or severity of those injuries, nor their present status, is available.
At this moment, investigations into the particular circumstances surrounding the incident’s cause are still underway. Witnesses and anybody else with information on the incident should call the Philadelphia Police Department as soon as possible.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims in hopes of their full recovery.
Highway Auto Accidents in Philadelphia
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s most current figures, there were a total of about 10,100 automobile accidents recorded in Philadelphia County last year (the highest reported in any county throughout the Commonwealth). Furthermore, Philadelphia County has an average of about 30 automobile accidents every day.
Sadly, roughly 12,000 multiple-vehicle accidents were recorded by Philadelphia County authorities in just one recent year alone.
Compared to other major cities, Philadelphia has one of the highest traffic-related fatalities per 100,000 population, making it one of the worst cities for road deaths in the country. To be more precise, there are 6 fatalities per 100,000 inhabitants in Philadelphia, compared to 2.87 deaths per 100,000 people in New York City. When compared to these and Los Angeles, which has 5.74 deaths per 100,000 people, Boston has the lowest rate in the nation with 1.93 deaths per 100,000 persons.
Accidents are stressful and unpleasant situations that may make you worry about the future while also making you feel powerless in the present. If you were in a car accident that wasn’t your fault but was tragically caused by a careless or inattentive driver, the situation becomes much grimmer.
