Philadelphia, PA (January 9, 2022) – On the afternoon of Saturday, January 8, a multi-vehicle crash with injuries occurred on a highway in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia Police confirmed that the accident happened at 2:45 p.m. in the afternoon in the westbound lanes of I-76 around Montgomery Drive. One or more vehicles lost control on the highway due to unknown reasons, causing a severe chain-reaction accident. The involved vehicles were badly damaged as a result.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those with injuries. One or more victims sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident. The victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries, though their conditions are not yet known.
Due to the severity of the collision, the roadway was blocked all the way back to Girard Avenue until police cleared the scene.
