South Strabane, PA (September 23, 2024) – At least seven people have been hospitalized following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 in Washington County.
County EMS personnel confirmed the crash occurred just before 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, between Exit 21 to I-79 southbound and Morgantown and Exit 20 to Pennsylvania Highway 136 and Beau Street. According to the South Strabane Fire Department, multiple lanes of Interstate 70 and Interstate 79 were impacted because of the crash.
Four of those injured were flown to area hospitals by medical helicopter, and three others were transported by ambulance. Officials also said that four vehicles and a trailered boat were involved in the incident. That said, the cause of the crash has not been determined at this time. The events leading up to the wreck are still under inquiry, and officers asked witnesses to come forward.
