Shippensburg, PA (March 26, 2022) – One person was killed in a fatal truck crash that took place in Shippensburg on Thursday morning, March 24.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the accident happened in the morning hours at the intersection of Ritner Highway and Stoughtstown Road. Police confirmed that 18-year-old Noah Blessing was traveling north on Stoughtstown and the driver of a tractor-trailer was headed east on Ritner. The two vehicles pulled into the intersection at the same time, where they forcefully collided with each other. The vehicle ran into the side of the tractor-trailer and spun out as the truck hit a wall. Police said that the vehicle then also struck the wall and got wedged between the truck and the wall.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Blessing was severely injured and tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The 66-year-old driver of the truck did not sustain injuries.
Both directions of the road at the intersection were blocked for several hours but were reopened around 3 p.m.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
