Trenton, NJ (April 6, 2022) – Two officer sustained injuries in an accident that took place at a Trenton intersection on Monday morning, April 4.
According to local officials, the accident happened in the early morning hours at the intersection of Walnut Avenue and Chambers Street. Two officers were traveling in the area in an unmarked police cruiser and pursuing another vehicle. At the intersection, the police cruiser swerved out of the way of an SUV that was traveling through the intersection at the same time. As a result, the cruiser struck a fire hydrant and a pole off the side of the road.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Both of the officers sustained injuries and were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center. They are both expected to recover from their injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
