Mont Alto, PA (November 5, 2026) โ A 72-year-old Fayetteville man was killed in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of South Main, North Main, Ash, and Park streets in Mont Alto Borough, Franklin County, on Tuesday afternoon, November 3. The wreck happened at about 4:07 p.m.
According to Pennsylvania State Police in Chambersburg, the man was driving a 1959 Austin-Healey Sprite north on South Main Street (State Route 997) and was turning left onto Ash Street when a southbound 2016 Toyota Corolla, driven by a 49-year-old Waynesboro man, struck it. The Austin-Healey spun and came to rest on South Main Street, and the Toyota stopped on the shoulder.
The 72-year-old man died at the scene. The Toyota’s driver had suspected minor injuries and was not taken to a hospital. The Franklin County Coroner’s Office, Mont Alto Fire and EMS, and fire police responded. Police said the man who died was not charged, and the report does not say whether charges will be filed against the other driver.
The crash remains under investigation.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the man who lost his life.
What Compensation Can Families Receive After a Fatal Crash in Mont Alto, PA?
After a fatal crash in Mont Alto, families may be able to receive compensation for medical care before death, funeral costs, lost financial support, and the loss of care and companionship. The amount depends on how the death affected the family.
In Pennsylvania, the claim is usually filed by the personal representative handling your loved one’s estate. If no claim is filed within six months, an eligible spouse, child, or parent may be able to file on behalf of all beneficiaries. These family members may receive compensation based on their individual losses resulting from the death.
Under Pennsylvania law, families generally have two years from the date of death to file a wrongful death lawsuit. Some situations have different deadlines. Waiting too long may prevent the family from moving forward in court.
To get a clearer picture of what happened, a wrongful death lawyer can collect investigation findings, financial records, and witness accounts. An attorney can then look at who may be responsible and respond to questions from insurers.
