Philadelphia, PA (September 2, 2026) – An e-bike rider and his passenger were hurt after early Wednesday, September 2, after the bike allegedly ran a red light and collided with a vehicle in Northeast Philadelphia.
The crash happened just before 12:15 a.m. near Cottman and Algon avenues. Police say the e-bike was traveling south on Algon Avenue when its operator disregarded a steady red light and struck the back driver’s side of a vehicle heading east on Cottman Avenue.
The e-bike operator, believed to be a man in his 30s, was taken to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital in critical condition. A 27-year-old woman riding with him was taken to Abington Hospital in stable condition. The driver of the other vehicle was not hurt.
