Philadelphia, PA (March 30, 2022) – Injuries were reported in a car accident that took place on a highway in Philadelphia on Wednesday, March 30.
According to officers with the Philadelphia Police Department, the accident happened around 8:45 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-76 around the area of Montgomery Drive, causing backups to Roosevelt Boulevard. Several vehicles were traveling in the area when they collided with each other due to reasons that are not yet known, though stop-and-go traffic jams may have led to a chain-reaction crash, per authorities on the scene.
EMTs and first responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One or more victims sustained injuries in the collision. The injured parties, who have not yet been identified, were taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
Due to the severity of the collision, multiple right lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for some time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene, however.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
