Philadelphia, PA (January 23, 2022) – Injuries were reported in a multi-vehicle collision that took place on a highway in Philadelphia on Sunday, January 23.
Philadelphia Police confirmed that the accident happened around 4:15 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-76 around the area of Montgomery Drive and Girard Avenue. Several vehicles were traveling in the eastbound lanes when one vehicle lost control, causing the others to collide in a chain-reaction collision. The vehicles were severely damaged and had to be towed from the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Several victims sustained injuries in the accident. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment, though their identities and conditions are not known at this time.
The roadway was blocked all the way back to Montgomery Drive as police worked to clear the scene.
