Philadelphia, PA (August 30, 2022) – Around 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday evening, Philadelphia Fire Department crews and local authorities were dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident in the greater Philadelphia region.
After the incident, officials are closing Market Street in both directions between 2nd and 3rd Streets. The accident caused one car to leave the road, and both cars were so badly damaged that they had to be towed away.
According to preliminary accounts, two of the injured needed medical care and were transported to a hospital. It has been claimed that one individual was stuck in one of the cars until rescuers used a spreader and cutting tools to free them.
At this time, it is unclear if any of the drivers involved will be cited or charged in connection with the incident since investigations are still underway.
