Silver Springs, PA (April 13, 2022) – On Wednesday morning, April 13, a hit-and-run pedestrian accident took place in Silver Spring that led to injuries.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the accident happened in the early morning hours on Rich Valley Road around the area of Wertzville Road. A PennDOT flagger employee was working in the area inside a work zone. At that time, a pickup truck drove through the area and intentionally struck the pedestrian. The driver of the pickup truck then fled the scene.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The PennDOT employee, who has been working with the company since 2018, was severely injured. They were taken to the hospital for treatment of four broken ribs, two broken vertebrae, and several other injuries. They are going through several other tests at this time.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
