Walnutport, PA (February 24, 2022) – Injuries were reported in a three-vehicle collision at an intersection in Walnutport caused by a DUI driver on Monday afternoon, February 21.
Lehigh Township Police confirmed that the accident happened at 4:20 p.m. at the intersection of PA-248 and PA-873. A 23-year-old woman was driving in the area when she attempted to make a turn at the intersection in her Honda Civic. Her vehicle collided with a Ford Edge being operated by a 49-year-old man due to reasons that are not yet known. The Ford was then pushed into a Subaru Legacy being operated by a 38-year-old man.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Ford Edge, as well as his 58-year-old female passenger, were injured in the accident. They were immediately hospitalized, though their conditions are not yet known.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes for a period of time following the collision.
Police believe that the accident was caused by alcohol use. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
